We have been talking about the forthcoming Oscars since last September at TIFF. We’ve been talking about it ever since. John and Alan have already submitted their picks for this Sunday’s ceremony. As we’ve mentioned, we’re getting a bit sick and tired of talking about them.
This year’s Oscars is the most wide-open of any I can recall in recent memory. Many of the big awards do not appear to be certain and it seems that anything could happen. We’re splitting the picks up into three: listing the likely winner, our preference and an outside chance. It’s very tricky to call anything this year. It was hard to make these decisions and a lot of this is going on gut instinct.
This Sunday we will know for sure and we can start to look forward and the dry part of the year for movie releases starts to wind down.
